työauto

Työauto is a type of vehicle used for work-related purposes, particularly in Finland. It is a fixed asset for most companies, and a significant portion of a company's expenses is tax-deductible if the vehicle is used solely for business purposes.

The ownership and use of työauto is subject to the Finnish Tax Act and the Fiscal Information Act. According to these laws, a company can deduct the cost of a new or used vehicle from its taxable income. The tax benefit is typically highest when the vehicle is used solely for work purposes and is not used for personal use by company personnel.

Työauto must meet certain technical requirements and standards, such as dimension and weight restrictions. The vehicle must also be registered with the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom) and display a reflective sticker on the rear indicating the vehicle's type.

There are two types of työauto in Finland: those used by companies with annual revenues above EUR 1 million and those used by smaller companies. Companies in the first group must obtain a permit from the National Board of Customs (Tulli) before purchasing a new työauto, while smaller companies are regulated by local legislation.

The Life cycle of työauto can last around 5 to 7 years on average. After a certain number of years, the tax benefit of a company vehicle decreases, and the vehicle can be used for personal use. The length of the life cycle depends on the chosen vehicle and the actual usage.
