turvatyynyjä
Turvatyynyjä, or airbags, are an important passive safety feature in modern vehicles. Their primary function is to inflate rapidly during a collision to cushion the occupants and reduce the risk of severe injury. The system typically consists of an airbag module, which contains the airbag itself, an inflation catalyst, and a sensor. When a significant impact is detected by the vehicle's sensors, an electrical signal is sent to the airbag module. This signal ignites a chemical propellant, which produces a large volume of harmless gas, rapidly inflating the airbag. The airbag deploys within milliseconds, creating a protective cushion between the occupant and hard surfaces within the vehicle's interior, such as the steering wheel or dashboard. Different types of airbags exist, including frontal airbags for the driver and front passenger, side-impact airbags to protect the torso, and curtain airbags that deploy from the roofline to shield occupants' heads in side collisions. While highly effective, it is important to note that airbags are designed to work in conjunction with seatbelts, and proper seating position is also crucial for their optimal performance.
