Turgudest is an Estonian linguistic term referring to the plural elative form of the noun turg, meaning “from the markets.”

Formation and usage: The base noun turg means “market.” The genitive plural is turgude (“of markets”). The elative plural turgudest is formed by adding the elative plural suffix -dest to the genitive plural stem, and it expresses origin from multiple markets. It is used in contexts that require indicating source or origin for plural referents, for example when talking about goods or people coming from more than one market.

Examples: For instance, the sentence Ma ostsin puuvilju turgudest means “I bought fruits from the markets.” Another example, Need tooted on turgudest pärit, translates as “These goods are from the markets” or “originated in the markets.” In everyday Estonian, turgudest is a natural choice whenever the speaker intends to convey plural-market provenance.
