Tuberkulózisban refers to a state of being affected by tuberculosis. Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease usually caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria. It typically affects the lungs, but can also affect other parts of the body. TB is spread through the air when a person with active lung TB coughs, sneezes, or speaks.

Symptoms of TB can vary depending on which part of the body is affected. Pulmonary TB, the most common form, can cause a persistent cough that produces phlegm, chest pain, fever, and night sweats. Extrapulmonary TB, which affects other organs, may present with different symptoms such as swollen lymph nodes, abdominal pain, or meningitis.

Diagnosis of TB usually involves a physical examination, chest X-ray, and laboratory tests such as sputum microscopy and culture. A skin test or blood test can also indicate exposure to the bacteria.

Treatment for TB involves a course of antibiotics, typically for six to nine months. It is crucial for patients to complete the entire course of medication to ensure the infection is fully eradicated and to prevent the development of drug-resistant TB.

Prevention strategies include vaccination with the Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccine, particularly in areas with high TB prevalence, and prompt identification and treatment of infected individuals to reduce transmission. Public health measures to improve living conditions and reduce overcrowding also play a role in TB control.
