trummiõõnsusesse
Trummiõõnsusesse refers to the space within the tympanic cavity, also known as the middle ear. This air-filled cavity is located just medial to the eardrum (tympanic membrane) and is housed within the temporal bone of the skull. The primary function of the middle ear space is to transmit sound vibrations from the outer ear to the inner ear. It contains the three smallest bones in the human body: the malleus (hammer), incus (anvil), and stapes (stirrup). These ossicles form a chain that connects the eardrum to the oval window, an opening that leads to the cochlea of the inner ear.
The trummiõõnsusesse is connected to the nasopharynx by the Eustachian tube, also known as the auditory tube.
