Transcendencj is not a standard English term; it is commonly encountered as a misspelling or an occasional Polish form of transcendence (transcendencja). The concept, whether expressed as transcendence in English or transcendencja in Polish, denotes going beyond ordinary limits, values, or empirical experience.

In philosophy and theology, transcendence refers to what lies beyond the grasp of ordinary experience or comprehension. In theology, a transcendent being such as God is understood as existing apart from and above the material world. In philosophy, transcendence contrasts with immanence, or what is present within the world. Different traditions locate transcendence differently: in Kant, the world as it appears to us (the phenomenon) is distinct from the thing-in-itself (the noumenon), which is transcendent to us.

In mathematics, transcendence designates a quality of numbers and functions that are not roots of polynomial equations with rational coefficients. Transcendental numbers include pi and e; transcendental functions include exp and sin, in appropriate mathematical contexts. The term is used to distinguish such entities from algebraic ones, which satisfy polynomial equations.

In culture and religion, transcendence is used to describe experiences, art, or moral values that surpass ordinary life, as well as the belief that ultimate reality exceeds ordinary perception. The concept has influenced literature, poetry, and film, and remains a common hinge between discussions of spirituality, science, and art.
