Tokene is a hypothetical digital token used in academic and educational contexts to illustrate key concepts in token economics and decentralized governance. It is not a real cryptocurrency or network.

In standard depictions, tokene is fungible and transferable across accounts, with a programmable layer that allows simple smart-contract–driven rules such as minting, burning, staking, or distribution. It typically includes a capped total supply or a predefined issuance schedule, and a default allocation among founders, investors, and community reserves.

The tokene model is used to demonstrate incentive design, governance mechanisms, and the trade-offs between centralization and decentralization. Common scenarios include proportional voting, stake-based influence, and rewards for network participation. In many treatments, token holders can vote on upgrades or parameter changes.
