However, due to the toxicity of lead, the use of tin-lead alloys has been significantly restricted in many applications, particularly those involving contact with food, water, or in electronics that are disposed of where lead can leach into the environment. Regulations like RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) have driven the development and adoption of lead-free alternatives in many industries. Despite these restrictions, some specialized applications may still utilize tin-lead alloys where lead-free alternatives do not offer the necessary performance characteristics.
