tilepyramides
Tilepyramides are a family of tessellating tiles used in geometric tiling and decorative design. A tilepyramide is a polyhedral tile shaped like a pyramid whose base is a regular polygon and whose side faces are congruent isosceles triangles that meet at a single apex. In 3D tilings, many tilepyramides can be arranged so that their side faces coincide along shared edges, creating a periodic or aperiodic lattice of pyramidal units. In some realizations the base faces lie in a common plane and the apexes extend above it; in other realizations the tiles are used as elevated elements, producing a stepped relief.
Construction: Choose a base polygon P that can tile the plane by translation (for example a square
Variants and uses: Tilepyramides can be combined with other polyhedral tiles to create complex mosaics or relief
