tiivistymiä
Tiivistymiä are instances of tiivistymä, a Finnish noun referring to condensation, densification, or compacting. The term is used in several disciplines to describe processes or results in which matter becomes more dense or concentrated. The primary sense is physical: condensation of a gas into a liquid or of water vapor into droplets, such as in meteorological contexts with dew, fog, or cloud formation. In materials science and engineering, tiivistymä may describe densification or compaction of powders and porous materials during processing, often aided by pressure or sintering, which reduces porosity and increases strength. In geology and soil science, tiivistymiä may refer to the compaction of sediments over time, leading to reduced porosity and increased density.
Linguistically, tiivistymä is formed from the verb tiivistyä, “to condense” or “to become more dense,” and its
