Thiacycloalkanes are cyclic organic compounds containing a sulfur atom within a ring structure. They are also known as cyclic thioethers or cyclic sulfides. The general formula for a saturated thiacycloalkane with n carbon atoms in the ring is CnH2nS. The simplest thiacycloalkane is thiirane, a three-membered ring containing one sulfur atom and two carbon atoms. Other common examples include thietane (four-membered ring), thiolane (five-membered ring), and thiane (six-membered ring).

These compounds are characterized by the presence of the C-S-C linkage within the ring. The sulfur atom's lone pairs of electrons contribute to the molecule's reactivity. Thiacycloalkanes can be synthesized through various methods, often involving the reaction of dihalides with sulfide sources like sodium sulfide.
