A teplárna, meaning "heating plant" in Czech and Slovak, is a facility that generates heat, typically for district heating systems. These systems distribute hot water or steam through underground pipes to heat residential buildings, commercial properties, and public institutions within a specific area. Teplárny play a crucial role in urban infrastructure, providing a centralized and often more efficient method of heating compared to individual building heating systems.

The primary source of heat for a teplárna can vary. Many utilize combined heat and power (CHP) generation, where electricity is produced alongside heat. This process often burns fossil fuels like natural gas or coal, but increasingly, renewable sources such as biomass or waste heat from industrial processes are being incorporated.
