Etymology: The word tekste derives from Dutch tekst, from Latin textus meaning "woven thing" or "fabric." The Afrikaans form preserves the same root.

It is common in phrases like "die tekste vir die kursus" (the texts for the course) or "versamel tekste uit verskeie bronne" (collect texts from several sources).
