Tapaban is a settlement located in the Trans-Pecos region of western Texas, United States. It is situated in Pecos County, near the border with Mexico. The area has a semi-arid desert climate, with hot summers and cool winters. Water is scarce, and natural springs are scarce in the region.

Tapaban was likely a rural homestead or a small farm settled by European-American pioneers in the late 19th or early 20th centuries. The name "Tapaban" is possibly derived from a local geographic feature or a type of plant. Historical records are sparse, but it is certain that Tapaban has been uninhabited for several generations.

The rural landscape surrounding Tapaban features rolling hills, mesas, and canyons carved by Rio Grande tributaries. Much of the land is used for livestock grazing and the raising of desert-adapted crops such as hay and melons. The native flora includes creosote bush, mesquite, and jojoba trees.

Access to Tapaban is primarily by rural roads. No services or amenities are available in the settlement itself. Tapaban is not incorporated or recognized as a distinct census-designated place by the US Census Bureau. The nearest town, Marfa, is located approximately 50 miles (80 km) to the northeast.
