Tanácsokhoz is a term used in Hungarian history to refer to councils. These councils played a significant role in the political and administrative structures of Hungary, particularly during certain periods. The concept of councils can be traced back to medieval times, where various forms of advisory bodies existed. However, the term "tanácsokhoz" is most prominently associated with the communist era in Hungary, following World War II.

During the socialist period, the system of councils, or tanácsok, was established as the primary organ of state power at local and regional levels.
