tõlütatud

Tõlütatud is a nonstandard Estonian form that occasionally appears in informal writing but is not recognized as part of the standard vocabulary. In normative Estonian, the translated form is tõlgitud, derived from the verb tõlkima (to translate). Tõlütatud does not have a widely attested entry in major dictionaries, and its presence is usually attributed to misspelling, typographical error, or creative experimentation in language use.

Morphology and possible etymology are not well established, since there is no canonical Estonian verb tõlütama from which a participle could be formed. If analyzed as a past passive participle, tõlütatud would resemble the standard pattern of -tud/-atud endings used to form adjectives from verbs, as in kirjutatud (written) or tõlgitud (translated). However, the stem tõlüt- lacks corroborating lexical support in authoritative sources, making the form largely hypothetical outside nonstandard contexts.

Usage and perceived status. Tõlütatud is typically encountered only in nonstandard or experimental text, informal online discourse, OCR mistranscriptions, or language games. It is not appropriate for formal writing, academic or journalistic work, where tõlgitud would be the correct form. Editors and language authorities would normally correct tõlütatud to tõlgitud in edited texts.

Comparison with standard form. The standard translation predicate in Estonian uses tõlgitud, as in Tekst on tõlgitud (The text is translated). The nonstandard form highlights how small orthographic or typographic deviations can create phrasal ambiguity or prompt discussion about Estonian morphology and spelling conventions.
