A sähköpistoke, often translated as an electrical socket or outlet, is a female connector device that is installed in a wall or other surface to provide a point of connection to the alternating current (AC) electrical power supply. It is designed to accept a corresponding male plug, which carries the electrical current to a device.

Sähköpistokkeet are crucial components of electrical wiring systems in buildings, allowing for the safe and convenient powering of appliances and electronic devices. They are standardized to ensure compatibility between plugs and sockets, although standards vary significantly by country and region. These variations relate to the number and shape of pins, voltage and frequency ratings, and safety features.

In Finland and much of Europe, the common type of sähköpistoke is the Type F, also known as Schuko. This socket has two round pins and grounding contacts on the sides. Older installations might still feature Type C (Europlug) sockets, which lack grounding. Modern installations increasingly use Type E, which is compatible with Type C plugs but also includes a grounding pin, and Type F sockets.

Safety is a paramount concern with sähköpistokkeet. They are designed with insulation to prevent accidental contact with live electrical parts. Many modern sockets also incorporate shutter mechanisms that block the pin holes when a plug is not inserted, preventing children from inserting foreign objects. Proper installation and adherence to electrical codes are essential to prevent electrical hazards such as shocks and fires. The terms "pistorasia" and "pistoke" are often used interchangeably in Finnish to refer to electrical outlets.
