Színkeverés refers to the process of combining different colors to create new ones. This fundamental concept is explored in various fields, including art, design, and printing. There are two primary types of color mixing: additive and subtractive.

Additive color mixing occurs when light sources of different colors are combined. The most common example is the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) color model, used in displays like televisions and computer monitors. When red, green, and blue light are mixed in equal proportions, they produce white light. Mixing pairs of these primary colors results in secondary colors: red and green make yellow, red and blue make magenta, and green and blue make cyan.

Subtractive color mixing, on the other hand, involves the absorption of light by pigments or dyes. This is the principle behind printing and painting. The primary colors in subtractive mixing are typically Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow (CMY). When these colors are mixed, they absorb certain wavelengths of light, and the color we perceive is the light that is reflected. Mixing all three subtractive primaries in theory results in black, though in practice, a dark brown or muddy color is often produced, which is why black (K) is often included in printing (CMYK). Mixing pairs of subtractive primaries yields secondary colors: cyan and magenta make blue, cyan and yellow make green, and magenta and yellow make red.
