szkodach

Szkodach is the locative plural form of the Polish noun szkoda, which broadly denotes harm, damage, or loss. In everyday language it can refer to material damage to property, bodily harm, or, in a figurative sense, pity. The plural szkody covers damages in many contexts, while szkód is the genitive plural and szkodach the locative plural used after prepositions such as o or w, for example o szkodach powstałych w wyniku awarii.

In legal and insurance contexts, szkody refers to losses or damages that can be compensated. They are usually categorized as szkody majątkowe (property or financial damages) and szkody niemajątkowe (non-material damages, such as harm to reputation or pain and suffering). In reporting, assessment, and insurance settlements, the scope and amount of szkody must be determined to calculate an appropriate odszkodowanie.
