Synandra is a genus of flowering plants in the mint family, Lamiaceae. There are currently two recognized species in the genus: Synandra grandiflora and Synandra hispidissima. Both species are native to the southeastern United States.

Synandra grandiflora is a perennial herb that typically grows in moist, shady habitats such as woodlands and stream banks. It has broad, heart-shaped leaves and produces clusters of white, bell-shaped flowers in the spring and summer. The flowers are attractive to pollinators, including bees and butterflies. The plant is often found in association with other understory species in mesic forests.

Synandra hispidissima is a more robust perennial herb, also found in moist, shady environments. Its leaves are also large and somewhat heart-shaped, but they are covered in coarse hairs, giving the plant a bristly appearance. The flowers are similar to those of S. grandiflora, being white and bell-shaped, and blooming during the warmer months. This species can be found in similar habitats but may tolerate slightly drier conditions than S. grandiflora.

Both species of Synandra are considered relatively uncommon. Their populations can be affected by habitat loss and degradation due to development and agriculture. Conservation efforts focus on protecting their natural habitats and monitoring their population status. The genus name "Synandra" is derived from Greek words meaning "together" and "male," referring to the way the stamens are fused in the flowers.
