supermassief
Supermassief is a Dutch adjective meaning "supermassive". It is most commonly used in astronomy to describe black holes or galaxies. A supermassive black hole is a black hole with a mass millions or even billions of times the mass of the Sun. These colossal objects are thought to reside at the center of most, if not all, large galaxies, including our own Milky Way. Their immense gravitational pull influences the dynamics and evolution of their host galaxies. The formation mechanism of supermassive black holes is still a subject of active research, with theories including the merger of smaller black holes or the direct collapse of massive gas clouds in the early universe. The term "supermassive" can also be applied to galaxies, referring to those with exceptionally large stellar populations and masses, often found in dense galaxy clusters.
