Sublicencelések, often translated as sublicensing, is a legal arrangement where a licensee grants permission to another party to use intellectual property rights they themselves hold under a license. This typically occurs when the original licensee (the sublicensor) has the right to further license the intellectual property but wants to allow a third party (the sublicensee) to utilize it. The terms of the sublicensing agreement are bound by the original license agreement between the licensor and the licensee. The sublicensee's rights are derived from and limited by the rights granted to the original licensee.

This practice is common in various fields, including software, technology, and media. For example, a software company that has a license to distribute a particular technology might sublicense certain aspects of that technology to other developers. Similarly, a media distributor might sublicense rights to broadcast content in specific territories. The original licensor usually needs to approve any sublicensing arrangements, and the sublicensing agreement must not exceed the scope or duration of the original license. The sublicensor remains responsible to the original licensor for the actions of the sublicensee, unless otherwise stipulated. This creates a chain of rights and responsibilities that must be carefully managed.
