stáblista
A stáblista is a term used in the context of the Hungarian National Assembly, or Országgyűlés. It refers to a list of candidates nominated for election to parliamentary seats. Essentially, it is the slate of individuals presented by political parties or alliances for voters to consider during a general election. These lists are crucial for the proportional representation aspect of the Hungarian electoral system, where a portion of seats are allocated based on the national vote share received by each party's stáblista. The order of candidates on the stáblista is determined by the nominating party and can influence the likelihood of certain individuals being elected. Voters cast their ballots for a party's stáblista, and the number of seats a party wins from these lists is then filled by candidates in the order they appear on that list. The stáblista system ensures that parties with significant popular support, even if they don't win individual constituency seats, can still gain representation in parliament.
