stromabhängig

Stromabhängig is a German term used to describe properties, behaviors, or responses that vary with the electric current flowing through a component, circuit, or system. It denotes a dependence on current I rather than solely on voltage, time, or other quantities, and is common in technical discussions about nonlinear devices and current-induced effects.

In electronics, stromabhängige Eigenschaften appear in nonlinear resistors whose resistance changes with current, yielding non-Ohmic I–V curves. Transistors and other current-controlled devices are described as stromabhängig because their output is governed by the current in a controlling path (base or gate current). The brightness or optical power of light-emitting devices such as LEDs often shows a stromabhängige relation to drive current, with higher current increasing luminance, though efficiency and temperature effects may cause deviations. Stromabhängige Effekte also arise from heating: I^2R losses raise temperature, which in turn alters electrical characteristics and reliability.

Because stromabhängigkeit depends on the specific system, the exact form of the current dependence must be described by appropriate relationships or measurements, such as an I–V curve or current–response function.
