statymas
Statymas is a normative legal act that establishes binding rules and obligations. It is issued by a competent authority and specifies the rights, duties, and powers of individuals, organizations, or public authorities within a defined scope and territory. A statymas is usually binding from a stated effective date and is published in an official gazette or legal register. It can be general or particular in its application and may be amended or repealed by a subsequent statymas or higher legal act.
Historically, "statymas" referred to formal legal codes, charters, and ordinances in the legal history of Lithuania.
In modern Lithuanian legal practice, the standard term for a law adopted by the Seimas is "įstatymas."
