Statiivisesti is a Finnish linguistic term used to describe the manner in which a statement refers to a state rather than an action. The adverb is formed from the noun statiivi, which designates stative aspect or stative predicates in linguistic analysis. The concept is used in cross-linguistic studies of aktionsart (lexical aspect) and is contrasted with dynamic predicates that encode events or processes.

In practice, statiivisesti describes the semantic class of predicates that denote stable conditions: permanent properties, states of being, or unchanging descriptions. Examples include adjectives or predicates such as “olla” (to be) in a state: “Kissa on hereillä” (The cat is awake). The idea can also refer to possession or condition: “Hän omistaa talon” (He owns a house). In everyday Finnish, stativity is usually inferred from semantics rather than from explicit morphology; the adverb statiivisesti appears mainly in linguistic analysis, grammars, and academic discussion.

The term stems from statiivi, borrowed from the international concept of stative in linguistics, and in Finnish sources it is used alongside “dynaaminen” to discuss aspectual contrasts across languages. It should not be confused with tilastollisesti, which means statistically, or with statistical analysis.
