Ssejtranszplantációk, or cell transplantation, refers to the process of transferring cells from one individual or site to another. This technique is a cornerstone of modern regenerative medicine and has a wide range of applications in both research and clinical settings. The primary goal of cell transplantation is to restore or enhance the function of damaged or diseased tissues and organs.

There are various types of cell transplantation, broadly categorized by the source of the cells. Autologous transplantation involves using the patient's own cells, which minimizes the risk of immune rejection. Allogeneic transplantation uses cells from a genetically different donor, often requiring immunosuppressive therapy to prevent rejection. Xenogeneic transplantation involves using cells from a different species, which presents significant immunological challenges.

Common sources of cells for transplantation include stem cells, such as hematopoietic stem cells (used in bone marrow transplants to treat blood disorders) and mesenchymal stem cells (investigated for their regenerative potential in various conditions). Differentiated cells, like pancreatic beta cells for diabetes treatment, are also used.

The procedure involves harvesting cells, potentially processing them ex vivo (e.g., expansion or genetic modification), and then administering them to the recipient. This administration can be done through injection, infusion, or surgical implantation. While promising, cell transplantation still faces challenges including cell survival, integration into host tissue, immune responses, and ethical considerations. Ongoing research aims to overcome these hurdles and expand the therapeutic applications of cell transplantation.
