Common types include upright sprinklers, which are mounted on top of the pipe and spray water downwards, pendant sprinklers, which hang down from the pipe and spray water downwards, and sidewall sprinklers, which are mounted on walls and spray water horizontally. The selection of sprinkler head type depends on factors such as ceiling height, obstruction, and the specific hazard being protected.
