Spektrikaryotyyppiä is a Finnish term that translates to "spectral karyotype" in English. It refers to a specific type of chromosome analysis, primarily used in the field of cytogenetics. This technique allows for the visualization and identification of individual chromosomes within a cell based on their unique spectral properties.

The process of generating a spectral karyotype involves using a technique called spectral karyotyping (SKY) or multiplex fluorescence in situ hybridization (M-FISH). In this method, each of the 24 human chromosome types (22 autosomes and the X and Y sex chromosomes) is labeled with a different fluorescent probe. These probes are designed to bind specifically to unique DNA sequences on each chromosome.
