soovitatava

Soovitatava is an Estonian adjective form meaning advisable or recommended. It is derived from the verb soovitama, meaning to recommend, combined with the participial suffix -atav, which creates an adjective that describes something that should be done or is advisable. The base form is soovitatav, and it conforms to ordinary Estonian adjective inflection.

In Estonian, adjectives inflect for case and number, and so soovitatav has a genitive singular form, commonly seen as soovitatava. This form is used to modify a noun in the genitive case, for example in phrases like soovitatava kirjanduse nimekiri, “a list of recommended readings.” The adjective can also appear in predicative constructions, such as On soovitatav kanda kiivrit, meaning “It is advisable to wear a helmet.”
