Sissi, also spelled Sisi, is a German-language diminutive form of Elisabeth and can refer to several topics, most notably a historical figure and a film series about her life. The name is widely used in German-speaking contexts as a nickname for Elisabeth.

Elisabeth of Austria, commonly known as Empress Sisi or Sissi, lived from 1837 to 1898. She became Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary as the wife of Emperor Franz Joseph I in 1854. Elisabeth was renowned for her beauty and fashion, her independent and frequently controversial stance at court, and her extensive travels. Her life was marked by personal hardships and health issues, and she was assassinated in 1898 in Geneva.
