Sisällönjakelukeskus, often abbreviated as CDN, is a geographically distributed network of proxy servers and their data centers. The primary purpose of a CDN is to provide high availability and performance by distributing the service spatially relative to end-users. When a user requests content, such as a webpage, image, or video, the request is routed to the CDN edge server closest to them. If the requested content is available in the edge server's cache, it is delivered directly to the user. This process significantly reduces the load on the origin server and minimizes the time it takes for the content to reach the user.
