This concept is most prominently associated with monetary unions, where multiple sovereign nations adopt and use a common currency to facilitate trade, economic integration, and financial stability.

The most well-known example of a single-currency system is the Eurozone, where 20 European Union member states use the euro (€) as their official currency. The adoption of a single currency eliminates exchange rate fluctuations between participating nations, reducing transaction costs and simplifying cross-border commerce.
