Shqiptarë is the Albanian autonym for Albanians, used to refer to the ethnic group and, more broadly, to citizens of Albania and the Albanian community in neighboring regions. In Albanian, the singular is Shqiptar (feminine Shqiptare); the plural is Shqiptarë, often rendered in English as “the Albanians” or “the Shqiptarë.” The term functions as both an ethnonym and a demonym.
