Serviceaansluiting, in Dutch utility terminology, is the physical connection between the public utility network and a private property. The term includes the service point and the metering equipment. It marks the boundary between the public infrastructure and the private installation, and it determines which party is responsible for maintenance and safety up to and at that point.

Typical components of a serviceaansluiting differ per utility. For electricity, it comprises the service cable from the distribution network to the meter, the meter itself, and often the main shut-off. For gas and water, it includes the service pipe from the public network to the building’s installation and any metering device; for telecom, the entry point and service equipment.

Responsibility generally lies with the network operator for the public side up to the service point, and with the property owner for the private side from the service point into the building. New connections or relocations require an application or agreement with the network operator, followed by installation by a licensed contractor and documentation/inspection to ensure safety and compliance.
