Sertletirici is a Turkish term used to describe substances that increase the rigidity or hardness of a material. In Turkish technical literature it covers a range of materials from simple mechanical stiffeners to chemical curing agents, functioning as the counterpart of the English terms hardener, curing agent, or stiffening agent.

The concept encompasses both physical and chemical means of hardening. Physical stiffeners, such as starches, gels, gelatin, or shellac-based finishes, create a conforming film or network that makes textiles, paper, or articles using coatings more rigid. Chemical hardeners act by initiating reactions that cure or cross-link polymers, for example in epoxy resins, polyurethanes, and certain coatings, transforming a soft material into a harder, more durable state. In some contexts consolidants or additives used to improve dimensional stability in wood, concrete, or composites are also described as sertletirici.

Applications span several industries. In textiles and dressmaking, stiffening agents are used for collars, cuffs, hats, and interfacing. In crafts and bookbinding, starch-based or resin-based stiffeners preserve shape and rigidity. In coatings and adhesives, curing agents form durable networks that resist wear. In construction and wood finishing, hardeners improve hardness, moisture resistance, and longevity of surfaces.
