Sentrifugstøpning, also known as centrifugal casting, is a manufacturing process used to produce tubular or cylindrical shapes by using centrifugal force. In this method, molten material is poured into a rotating mold. The rotation causes the molten material to be forced outward against the mold walls, filling the mold cavity uniformly and forming a solid, dense casting.

The process is particularly well-suited for producing hollow cylinders, pipes, sleeves, and other components with a symmetrical circular cross-section. Common materials cast using this technique include metals like iron, steel, aluminum, and bronze, as well as some plastics and refractories. The centrifugal forces generated during casting help to eliminate internal voids and impurities, resulting in a high-quality product with excellent mechanical properties.

The speed of rotation, the viscosity of the molten material, and the mold temperature are critical parameters that influence the success of the centrifugal casting process. After the material solidifies, the rotating mold is stopped, and the casting is removed.
