Semioticists are scholars who study semiotics, the theory and interpretation of signs and symbols. They analyze how meaning is created, communicated, and understood through various systems of signs, which can include language, images, gestures, sounds, and objects. Semioticists investigate the relationships between signs, their referents (what they represent), and the interpretants (the meaning created in the mind of the receiver). Their work often draws from diverse fields such as linguistics, anthropology, philosophy, literary theory, and communication studies.
The field of semiotics, and by extension the work of semioticists, seeks to uncover the underlying structures
