Schillemuistia, also known as Schillemuistia's disease, is a rare, progressive neurological disorder characterized by the degeneration of the cerebral cortex, particularly affecting the frontal and temporal lobes. It is named after the Dutch neurologist Jan Schillebeeckx, who first described the condition in 1962. The exact cause of Schillemuistia is unknown, but it is believed to be a genetic disorder, possibly involving mutations in the TSC1 or TSC2 genes, which are also associated with tuberous sclerosis complex.
