Salmonellata is a term that appears to be a misspelling or a non-standard term. The widely recognized medical term related to infection by the bacterium Salmonella is salmonellosis. Salmonellosis is a common bacterial disease that affects the intestinal tract. It is caused by Salmonella bacteria.

The most common symptom of salmonellosis is diarrhea, which can be bloody. Other symptoms may include fever and abdominal cramps. Vomiting can also occur. Symptoms usually appear 6 to 72 hours after infection and typically last for four to seven days. In most cases, individuals recover without specific treatment other than sufficient fluid intake.

Cross-contamination can also occur if raw meat or eggs come into contact with other foods. Pets, especially reptiles like turtles and snakes, can also carry and transmit Salmonella.

Diagnosis is usually made based on symptoms and confirmed by laboratory testing of stool samples. Treatment primarily involves supportive care to prevent dehydration. In severe cases, antibiotics may be prescribed, especially for individuals with weakened immune systems or those who are very ill. Prevention strategies include proper food handling and cooking practices, thorough handwashing after contact with animals or their environments, and avoiding unpasteurized products.
