sécrivent

Sécrivent is a form found in French that is typically described as the third-person plural present indicative. It is not a common or standard form for any widely used verb in contemporary French.

The form is usually associated with a rare or archaic verb, often cited as sécriver, which would theoretically mean “to write secretly” or, less commonly, “to secrete in writing.” However, sécriver is scarcely attested in standard dictionaries, and sécrivent is not a routine entry in modern grammar references. In everyday usage, speakers would instead use écrivent for “they write,” or sécrètent for “they secrete.”

Linguistic notes: the appearance of sécrivent can reflect historical spelling variants, transcription errors, or dialectal practices. Some older or nonstandard texts may exhibit verb forms with similar stems, but modern orthography and conjugation have largely regularized and standardized these endings.
