Rupere is a fictional city in the northern part of the continent of Thaloria, used in fantasy literature and world-building exercises. In its fictional setting, Rupere functions as an administrative and cultural hub for the surrounding district.

The name Rupere is described as deriving from Old Thalorian elements ru meaning water and pere meaning edge, reflecting its riverside setting.

Rupere sits on the Rup River in a temperate zone with fertile plains. It is governed by a municipal council of twelve and a mayor, and belongs to the Thalarian Federation, a loose confederation of city-states.

Founded around 1120 by the Dornar clan, Rupere developed as a river trade node. It endured medieval conflicts and was substantially rebuilt after a 1720 earthquake. Industrialization arrived in the 19th century, reshaping its economy and skyline.

Today the economy blends agriculture (grain and hops), light manufacture, and services. Cultural life centers on the Rupere Castle ruins, a riverside promenade, and the annual Rupere Night festival featuring folk music, crafts, and markets.

The population is about 18,000, consisting of local Thalorians and migrant workers. Transport includes regional roads and a short railway branch linking Rupere to the main Thalorian line.
