Rubryki (singular rubryka) is a term in Polish journalism referring to a section of a newspaper, magazine, or website focused on a particular topic or type of content. They are recurring parts with their own titles, such as rubryka sport or rubryka kulinarna. A rubryka can contain articles, notes, or listings; it is distinct from a single article and from an author’s column, though overlaps can occur. In print, rubryki help organize content and guide readers.

Etymology and history: The word rubryka comes from German Rubrik and from Latin rubrica meaning red chalk or red lettering. In medieval manuscripts headings were written in red to set apart sections; the term was adopted into Polish to denote such marked sections in printed media. Over time, it broadened to mean any regular section of a publication.

Modern use: In newspapers and magazines, rubryki cover many domains, including culture, technology, travel, classifieds (rubryka ogłoszeniowa), etc. On the web, rubryki often correspond to site categories or pages. The plural rubryki is used to refer to multiple sections.
