routeId

Routeid is an identifier assigned to a route entry in routing systems and related software. The term is used across networking devices, software-defined networking controllers, and mapping or navigation APIs to reference a particular route instance without ambiguity.

Usage: In a router's configuration or management plane, routes are identified by destination prefixes, next hops, and metrics. In some systems, a separate route-id is assigned to each route to distinguish parallel entries to the same destination or within different routing contexts such as VRFs or policy tables. This route-id may be numeric or alphanumeric and is typically stable within a given device or API session.

In APIs and applications, routeId (often camelCase in JSON) serves as the primary key for route resources. Clients use routeId in requests to read, update, or delete a particular route.

Considerations: Route identifiers are implementation-specific. They may change after reconfiguration or route recalculation, and should not be embedded as meaningful data. They should be treated as opaque tokens that reference the underlying route entry.
