Robbanóer is a traditional Hungarian word that roughly translates to "dynamite craftsmen" or "dynamos". The term refers to a group of inhabitants from the small localities of Balköz and Nagybajom in western Hungary, who were renowned for their alleged historical occupation as dwarves working in the local fireworks and dynamite industry.

The name 'Robbanóer' originates from the Hungarian word 'robbanó', which means 'dynamite' or 'explosive'. According to local folklore, the inhabitants of Balköz and Nagybajom were exceptionally small in stature, but possessed extraordinary strength and resilience. It was said that due to their robust build and resistance to physical demands, they were employed in caverns and tunnels of the local fireworks and dynamite production facilities.
