Respirace is a term used in biology and medicine to describe the process of breathing or respiration. It encompasses the mechanical act of inhaling and exhaling air, as well as the physiological exchange of gases within the body. This exchange primarily involves the uptake of oxygen from the atmosphere and the release of carbon dioxide, a waste product of cellular metabolism.

The respiratory system is a complex network of organs and tissues responsible for facilitating respirace. Key components include the lungs, airways (such as the trachea and bronchi), and the diaphragm, a muscle that plays a crucial role in the mechanics of breathing.
