Resourcescaching is a technique used in computing to store copies of frequently accessed data in a more readily available location. The primary goal is to reduce the latency associated with retrieving that data from its original, often slower, source. This can significantly improve the performance of applications and systems.

The process involves identifying data that is accessed repeatedly. Instead of fetching this data from the original source every time it's needed, a copy is made and stored in a cache. When the data is requested again, the system first checks the cache. If the data is found in the cache (a "cache hit"), it is returned directly from the cache, which is much faster than retrieving it from the original source. If the data is not found in the cache (a "cache miss"), it is fetched from the original source, and then a copy is typically stored in the cache for future use.

Various types of resources can be cached, including web page elements like images and scripts, database query results, and frequently used objects in memory. Caching mechanisms can be implemented at different levels, such as browser caching, server-side caching, or specialized caching layers like Content Delivery Networks (CDNs).

Effective resource caching requires strategies for managing the cache, such as determining what data to cache, how long to keep it in the cache, and how to update or invalidate cached data when the original data changes. Improper cache management can lead to stale or incorrect data being served to users.
