Relativitetsteorins, or the theory of relativity, is a cornerstone of modern physics developed by Albert Einstein. It fundamentally changed our understanding of space, time, gravity, and the universe. The theory is divided into two main parts: special relativity and general relativity.

Einstein described gravity not as a force, but as a curvature of spacetime caused by the presence of mass and energy. Massive objects warp the fabric of spacetime around them, and other objects follow these curves, which we perceive as gravitational attraction. This theory has been experimentally verified through phenomena like the bending of starlight by massive objects and the precession of Mercury's orbit.
