Rekuperaní is a term that refers to the process of recovering heat from exhaust air and transferring it to incoming fresh air. This is commonly used in ventilation systems, particularly in buildings. The primary goal of rekuperaní is to reduce energy consumption by preheating or precooling the incoming fresh air using the thermal energy present in the outgoing stale air. This minimizes the need for the heating or cooling system to work as hard to bring the fresh air to the desired indoor temperature.

There are several types of heat exchangers used in rekuperaní systems. The most common include rotary heat exchangers, plate heat exchangers, and heat pipes. Rotary heat exchangers, also known as heat wheels, use a rotating mass that absorbs heat from the exhaust air and then releases it to the incoming fresh air. Heat pipes are sealed tubes containing a working fluid that evaporates in the warm exhaust air and condenses in the cooler fresh air, transferring heat in the process.
