In ordinary Swedish, reflexivity is most often indicated with the reflexive pronoun sig, which refers to the subject: jag tvättar mig (I wash myself), hon skyndar sig (she hurries). The reflexive pronoun functions as the object of the verb.

Reflexivity is distinct from reciprocity, which is typically marked with varandra or varandras.
